Questions and countless prototypes
Questions and countless prototypes
'What begins as a question rarely ends with an answer. More often, it becomes an object.'
— Gitansh S. Badwal, Founder & Creative Director
about
Whatglows began with a simple curiosity about light. Not light as illumination, but light as a material of its own. The way it passes through glass. The way it disappears into wood. The way a room feels different when a warm glow appears in a corner. What started as an interest soon became an obsession. Collecting materials. Building prototypes. Taking things apart. Making things that failed. Making them again. Today, Whatglows is a small studio dedicated to creating objects shaped by that curiosity. Every glow begins as a question and slowly becomes something real through sketching, experimenting, machining, printing, assembling, and countless small decisions along the way.
vision
We're interested in the small moments that often go unnoticed. The glow that makes you pause when you walk into a room. The texture that only appears when light touches it from the side. The feeling of keeping an object for years because it quietly becomes part of your daily life. Rather than creating more products, we're interested in creating objects worth living with.
Gitansh S. Badwal
I've always been drawn to making things. Long before Whatglows, I spent my time building machines, experimenting with materials, and trying to understand how things worked. Somewhere along the way I became fascinated by light and the way it could completely change an object, a material, or an entire room. Whatglows became a way to bring those interests together. The studio is still driven by the same curiosity that started it all. Every project is an opportunity to learn something new, solve a problem, and create something that didn't exist before.
